Troop 648

Troop 648 is a Family Troop and a proud member of the Spirit Lake District. We are home to over 20 active Scouts who balance Scouting alongside school, sports, church, and other activities. We understand how busy today’s youth are, which is why we strive to make Scouting a fun, flexible, and meaningful experience shared with friends and peers. Even with full schedules, our Scouts continue to achieve at the highest levels—Troop 648 has produced 75 Eagle Scouts and counting. 

Our commitment to quality programming is reflected in our recognition as a 2024 Journey to Excellence Gold Unit, and our strong leadership culture with multiple Scouts completing National Youth Leadership Training. We have active participation in the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society, where many current and former Troop members have served in Chapter, Lodge, and Section leadership roles. Numerous Scouts and Scouters staff Resident Summer Camps, giving back to Scouting while developing valuable skills.

Service and community involvement are at the heart of Troop 648. Our Scouts regularly support the community through projects such as Winter Hospitality Overflow, the Veteran’s Day Parade, Walk & Knock, Christmas Tree Pick Up, and service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, along with many other opportunities. 

We are chartered by St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Vancouver and enjoy a strong, positive relationship with our charter organization. The church supports our Scouting activities and outings, and our Scouts give back by volunteering at church events such as the Harvest Festival and Scout Sunday. Families stay connected through our private Facebook page, which includes photos and a full calendar of events. 

Troop 648 keeps Scouting accessible with $60 annual dues and a “Pay as You Go” model, meaning Scouts only pay for the activities they choose to attend. We also provide excellent advancement support, with Merit Badge Counselors covering most Merit Badges—including all Eagle-required Merit Badges—helping every Scout grow, lead, and succeed.
